Film

Matthew Lima

Mr. Lima is Haverhill High School’s Filmmaking and Digital Design teacher. He leads the tech crew for HHS Drama Club productions, and he is also the advisor to the HHS Film Club. Born in Brazil to an American mother and Brazilian father, Mr. Lima is a Brazilian-American dual citizen. He has been working in film and video for most of his life, getting his start as a teenager at his father’s small video production company. All the while, he was developing a love for the arts thanks to his mother, a professional ballet teacher. Mr. Lima later went on to study film as an undergraduate at Boston College and as a graduate student at Boston University. Since then he has experienced many facets of the industry, both in Boston and Los Angeles: working at production and post-production houses serving major advertisers, managing professional equipment rentals for Boston University, and orchestrating live video productions for international broadcasters. Throughout it all, Mr. Lima was increasingly drawn to education. Inspired by his wife, herself a high school teacher, and his mother, he began teaching at Haverhill High School in 2019. He looks forward to continuing to build the school’s Film and Digital Media program, empowering students to effectively express themselves as artists and professionals through modern visual media.
